This is a USA-made “Dojo” which is a cross between a Dobro and a 5-string Banjo. Made by the Dobro Guitar company, these instruments are rare and they sound great and look super cool. BTW, that is rain drops on the headstock, my employee started out the door to take pictures and it started sprinkling so he ran back in and took the photos in the acoustic room. He cleaned the drops after he took the photos… The instrument is all original with the possible exception of the tail-piece. This one’s in excellent condition with a beautiful sunburst finish. One scratch on the upper bout and a little bit of checking on the lower bout. It is a cross between a traditional Dobro guitar and a banjo, complete with a biscuit bridge. A smaller-scaled Dobro inspired Maple body and a flamed maple neck contribute to its distinctive appearance. Fit for banjo players looking for a slightly different sound, the 9 1/2″ resonator provides plenty of volume. The Dobro Dojo is a ton of fun to play and gives the banjo player a chance to incorporate a warm dobro type tone into their repertoire. My employee plays banjo and he said there is no way it could be from the 80s because its so clean. It only has light handling wear, no buckle rash. Very nice. Didn’t get it with a case but I will find one to ship it in to keep it safe, wont be original but will do the trick.
